Mural for the little one

Filed under: The Beginning — WiseDad @ 12:15 pm

34 weeks prego….

Now that we have painted baby buttsina’s room “elegant ivory,” how do we make it more baby friendly?  We can’t have him/her staring at a white wall/ceiling.  I’ve started looking into murals that you can paint on the walls or on the ceiling to add some color and adventure to the room.  Although most are for the child or the older kid but I think it looks like fun.  And since the babies room is technically still have my office I would like to have a mural.  Who wouldn’t want their office to look like the safari.

I found this one at Hubpages

I’m sure you need to have some mad artistic painting skill to do the mural above so mine will be a little more low key.  Clouds and happy faces, that sort of thing.  I can draw a wicked straight line!  I did find a website for the “do-it-yourself” mural enthusiast.

How to paint a Mural

You can always find an artist and pay them to do one for you but I would guess this would not be very cheap.  My research continues for the perfect mural.  I will post a pic if I ever get something on the wall that is not too embarrassing to share.  Happy painting!

Human Can Opener

Thanks VwFamly.

The video gives me shivers like what I get with finger nails on a chalk board.  It’s always fun to promote local individuals.  I think I have a can of beer in the fridge.  I’ll let you know how it goes.

Happy Valentine’s day!

Filed under: The Beginning — WiseDad @ 9:00 am

heartTraditionally this day is about sharing your love with someone in the form of a love note or a small kind gift or even just saying “I love You.”  Here is the low down on Saint Valentine’s Day from Wikipedia.  What do you think about this day?  Has it turned into a mass marketing retailers dream and a mans frantic search for a gift?

The RCC (retail council of canada) talks about the day and it’s impact on retailers.  What are people buying and how much are they spending to show their love?  It would be nice to see this day get back to it’s roots of love notes and poems.  In reality people are spending more to show their love and, “if you really love me you will buy me a flat panel tv!”  Wink! Wink!

I challenge you to write a love note or send a card with a romantic poem instead of rushing out to spend $80 on flowers and $30 on chocolates or $15000 on a flat panel tv encrusted with diamonds.  So gents, let’s show our love the traditional way and see what happens.  I think we will be pleasantly surprised with the reaction we get.

Need help with the writing?

No excuses!

Filed under: The Beginning — WiseDad @ 11:57 am

Oops!  It has been two weeks since my last post.  My apologies for those who have been visiting my site on a regular basis.  In all honesty though not much has happened over the last two weeks but I will pull my socks up and post more often.

We have reached the 32 weeks prego point as of today.  Everyone is feeling good and the three of us (wife/baby/myself) are putting on a healthy amount of weight.  We have increased our red meat reserves in the freezer to accomodate our hunger and last night we put to practice our cookie making skills and made some chocolicious Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies.  This recipe may appear on this site in a future post.

Doc (aka the prego) has talked me into repainting the babies room.  We have a small home so my office is on one half of the room and the baby gets the other half.  So the paint needs to be fairly neutral to suit everyones taste.  The current color on the walls has been described as ”meconium.”  I’m pretty sure that was not the actual name of the color when we bought it from the retailer but perhaps it should have been.  Hopefully we have better luck with our new color selection.

P.S. Any volunteers for painting?  You will be rewarded with beer!
